APEDA Launches Updated TraceNet Portal for End-to-End Traceability

Date: January 9, 2025
Venue: National Programme for Organic Production (NPOP) launch event, NASC Complex, Pusa, New Delhi

Key Highlights

  • TraceNet 2.0 Rollout
APEDA officially launched the upgraded TraceNet system, a webbased traceability portal that empowers stakeholders—from growers and producer groups to certification bodies—to track organic produce from farm to export, linking it directly back to the individual grower/producer.
  • Certificates Issued to Operators
The first five traceability certificates were issued live to organic operators via TraceNet 2.0, marking a significant milestone in regulatory transparency.
  • Seamless Regulatory Oversight
The upgraded system enhances tools for regulatory bodies to monitor quality data, forward and backward trace links, and compliance analytics.
  • Training and Mobile App Enablement
On 17 May 2025, APEDA organized a workshop and live demonstration at the India Habitat Centre, training over 900 participants from certification bodies and organic producers on using the new TraceNet system and accompanying mobile app.
  • Industry & Certification Body Support
Trace Assure Global Certification, Ecocert India and other major certification bodies welcomed TraceNet 2.0, highlighting the portal’s endtoend traceability as a key enabler for trust in India’s organic sector.

Why It Matters

  • Transparency: Realtime tracking from farm plot to export consignment builds consumer confidence in product provenance.
  • Compliance: Enhanced tools help certification bodies ensure NPOP standards are met, and regulatory oversight is simpler.
  • Efficiency: Stakeholders—growers, exporters, labs—have centralized access to quality, certification, and trace data.
  • Export Advantage: Traceability boosts India’s credibility in organic markets, helping expand global market access.
